My dad, in partnership with the city of Vista, California, hosts a BBQ competition each August. This is the third year and it has already attracted more than 20,000 people, doubling its numbers from previous years.
Unfortunately I wasn’t there long enough to capture any bbq teams in action, but Tyler and I did stay for the dessert competition turn-ins. Here are some of our favorites:
Pig cupcakes
Lemon Bars (these got a perfect score, and always, always win)
Pig cake (lots of fondant, which isn't the yummiest...)
Homemade (vanilla bean?) ice cream
This was my mom's Cherry Delight dessert (4th or 5th place, I can't remember)
Jack had a looooong day. He slept pretty good when he did get the chance to nap, but because of our activities he was up til past 10pm! He’s a trooper!
