We’re not in San Diego this year, so we don’t have the opportunity to visit the Knob Hill Santa. Bummer.

But hooray! Gracious people donated their time, talents, and efforts to set up a Picture with Santa at our church ward Christmas party. Thank you for letting us capture Jack’s fear of Santa Claus on camera. Many, many screams abounded.

(and for the record, his fear of vacuums is greater than that of Santa Claus. It pretty much goes fear of: vacuums >shark steam mop > Santa Claus > hair clippers > walking in public. Am I forgetting any?)

On the Menu / november 30, 2012

This week’s menu was:

1 | creamy tomato soup (subbing coconut creamer for the cream cheese – YUM!)

2 | rotini with sundried tomatoes, broccoli, and walnuts

3 | thai peanut noodles

4 | quick black beans + quick lime cilantro pineapple rice + grilled red pepper (all wrapped in a warm tortilla)

5 | butternut squash soup

Next week’s menu includes:

1 | mexican vegetable soup with lime and avocado

2 | spiced black bean tacos with avocado and goat cheese*

3 | baked black bean & sweet potato flautas with avocado

4 | sundried tomato pesto with a side of roasted broccoli

5 | potato corn chowder with a rustic garlic baguette

6 | roasted butternut squash, black bean, & goat cheese* tostadas

*if the rain lets up and we make it to our locals farmer’s market tomorrow morning, I’m planning on picking up some fresh, local goat cheese. If not, I might leave it out or sub it with a vegan cheese.

even though jack lets you pick on him too much when you come visit, we’re still glad you came for thanksgiving. you’ve got the brightest smile around. thank you for that.

12 weeks / november 19, 2012

Missing this girl today.

She would have been 12 weeks old. We would have been blessing her this week around our entire family in that beautiful pink dress.

I’m really missing the extra snuggle and kisses. I think Jack’s little spirit knew because all morning I got extra snuggles and kisses from him. I wish with all my heart that his extra love could make up for it, I really do.

This week will be hard. It will be full of intense, deep tears for the many members of our family that won’t be joining us, two in particular this year that none of us ever thought we’d have to miss so soon. Apologies in advance for the tears that will take up a permanent residence in my eyes until January.
