Tyler works in the San Diego office a few days a month, and has racked up quite the stash of frequent flyer miles. Not enough to get Jack and I anywhere much further than the limits of the west coast, but hey! a free flight is a free flight and we happily took advantage of it.
We got to visit Grammy Tammy & Grandpa Dale this past week in sunny San Diego. I’m kicking myself for ever leaving here – we’ve had the screen doors and windows open all day long, letting in that nice warm breeze that northern California greatly lacks. It’s sunny and warm and the epitome of perfection.
We’ve been waking up much too early, sending Daddy off to work, and spending a leisurely hour grazing on breakfast. We’ve been shopping with cousins and stroller pushing and grassy park visiting. We’ve been baby obsessing (4 week old Piper!) and eating The Yellow Deli and trying new tofu recipes.
Jack has eaten calamari (to say he loves it would be an understatement) & fancy butterfish & ny steak this trip. The kid has the most refined toddler palate I’ve ever seen, much to our delight. (But I’ll admit babies still have a cool factor for him: though he’s been out of a highchair for almost a year, this morning he insisted on putting on a bib and eating in the highchair again like his cousin Carson does, see above.) I’ve darkened my hair, and Tyler lost his voice. My Dad worked at the temple, and my Mom and I watched The Bachelor (she was rather disappointed, I was “eh”).
We’re really so blessed to see my family so often; many people don’t. We’re heading back to the Bay tonight, but I’ll be sure to savor the warm sunshine for you all this afternoon. ;)
so good to have you here! don’t let jack grow up!!!!!!
Had fun seeing you again! Too bad we weren’t all feeling better!
