When Jack turned one, it really snuck up on me. Wasn’t he just two months old? I’ll admit I was tearful and moody and sad we were leaving the baby stage for toddlerhood.
But this time around, I’m emotionally prepared for Jack’s second birthday to come on Friday. As much as I have missed the baby stages, he’s becoming quite the dashing toddler and do I daresay? I like it.
He’s independent. He’s passionate about things. He can climb out of the bathtub by himself now.
We’ll be out of town for Jack’s birthday, so we celebrated it a week early with our favorite friends. (In which I should add a disclaimer that I have many, many favorite friends I wish we could have invited!) Jack is slightly obsessed with the movie, The Lorax, so his party was loosely based on that. We’re really not big into characters around here, but I didn’t want to deprive him of what would truly make him smile. So we compromised. :) The invites I made were Lorax-themed, we hung “truffula trees”, the food was vegan (except the goldfish crackers) and for favors we gave away plants.
Without further adieu, here was Jack’s party in a nutshell:
Thank you, friends, for making Jack feel special. I’m sure in his little toddler mind he was sure glad to have just one day that was all about him (and not his little sister). We love and appreciate so many of your friendships!
Happy Birthday, “Jack Jack”! (Funny how my girl uses a nick name for him & my boy just calls him by his real name…). Great shots. Can you post the cupcake recipe? I think I can taste them just looking at the photo.
So so cute! I love the invite it looks so awesome.
WIsh I was there!! Looks like fun!
I love the truffula trees!
