As you can tell, I’m making a desperate attempt to catch up on life. We moved one month ago and while some things have been patched back together again (me, mainly) other things in life fell apart (our blog, the internet at our house).
Before I get humongously pregnant and life gets infinitely harder, we are trying to become friends with the Bay Area. So far it’s working and we love the unique culture here. A couple of Saturdays ago we attended the Maker Faire, an annual fair of hand-crafted goodies. But instead of a woman’s craft fair it was a manly, science-y, and testosterone-y. Of course, this meant Tyler loved it!
I had fun too, and finally got to see a 3-d printer in action. But my favorite part was seeing how innovative and clever some teenagers can be. At a booth displaying high school students’ science projects we discovered all sorts of cool inventions, including a breastpump that uses UV rays to filter out the HIV/Aids virus in breastmilk! How a teenage boy can come up with an idea like that is beyond my comprehension. I couldn’t even say the word “breast” without giggling until I was pregnant with Jack, let alone design my own working breastpump. :)
What I gained from the Maker Faire was that if one (or more!) of our kids shows as much interest and talent in a certain subject as these kids did, I hope and pray Tyler and I can give them the exposure, support, and encouragement they need to chase their dreams.
Here’s some of the pictures we took. Let me start off by saying we saw lots and lots of really cool legos.
So fun! We must do something together soon!!
Yes, we must. Tyler and I love weekend outings!
