I almost forgot to show off this year’s Christmas ornament!
It’s a tradition on our family to make a Christmas ornament each year. My mom has been attending an ornament exchange party every year (sometimes two each year) for as long as I can remember. Her house has gobs and gobs of ornaments – her tree is so packed she has to drape garland around the house to hang the rest of the ornaments. I’d say about 90% or more of the ornaments she has are handmade by her friends, which is really neat. Each one has a story and it was fun helping decorate the tree as a kid and seeing the newly acquired ornaments each year.
I got the idea for mine from pinterest (where else?) and tweaked it as I saw fit. I searched high and low and pinned lots of ideas, but this one stuck in my head for weeks so I knew it was the one.
Do you love it? I kind of based it off of a similar red coat that I own. Each one took me around 45 minutes to an hour to do, and I ended up making around 15 of them this year. That’s a lot of hours, but it was fun to attend an old family friend’s’ 11-person ornament party and come home with 10 new ornaments for our tree. Even if you only come home with one or two you’re in love with, it makes it all worth it.
Here’s last year’s ornament I made (my sister hosted her first-ever ornament party last year).
(notice our lack of stockings? that’s a story for another day! they’re not quite finished yet!)
Your (our) tree turned out nice!
That is so cute! I sure hope you saved one for me.
It’s already in the mail. :)
