Okay so no fire here (thank goodness), but the smoke detector went off in our house at 2:30am last night.
I’m grateful for fire alarms. I never thought I’d say that (anyone else get ticked off as I do when you can’t pinpoint which one is beeping from a low battery?) but then again we’ve never had a close call like last night.
Jack is sick with a bad cold, so we’ve run the humidifier the past few nights. The poor kiddo hasn’t gotten a full night’s sleep since about last Tuesday or Wednesday, which means we as his parental units haven’t gotten a decent night’s sleep either. So the alarm beeping last night wasn’t exactly a welcome guest in our house.
But thank goodness for that dang smoke detector. Something went wrong (always while you’re asleep or gone, right?) and water leaked into the electrical part of the humidifier in the middle of the night. Luckily the detector in his bedroom was right above the humidifier and went off right away. Whew, disaster averted.
On a better note, how did everyone like Thanksgiving? We drove up Thursday morning (5:30am!) to Bakersfield and enjoyed a relaxed meal with Tyler’s family. We came home Friday evening and immediately started decorating for the Christmas holiday. Stockings are hung, our tree is twinkling with lights, and most of the presents are wrapped. ‘Tis the season!
