Last Friday my sister and I visited the Birch Aquarium in La Jolla. I hadn’t been there since I was itty-bitty myself, but luckily it was just as cool as I remembered it to be.
But I have to confess I’ve got the worst memory in the world, so from childhood, I only remembered the tide pool and the school of fish at the entrance. Ah, well. We ended up buying passes so we can go together more often.
We saw Nemo and all of his baby cousins in the Fish Nursery. We saw sharks, kelp, jellyfish, eels, and starfish. We also saw a large variety of sea horses, big and small. (Fun fact: I was watching Planet Earth the other day and learned the smallest sea horse in the world is less and 1/2″ long! Teeny tiny little buggers!)
And Jack even got to poke a sea cucumber. I think he liked the jellyfish and the sea cucumber the best. :)
