Will someone please come to our house for dinner so I can finally put to use my new napkins? :)
My mom has these really cool metal stencils. We’ve had them since I was little, and I’m sure they’re even older than that. She let me borrow them for this project, and I’m sure I’ll be using them for many more projects to come!
Supplies: fabric paint, stencils, cloth napkins, sponge brush, cardboard
Instructions: It’s really quite simple. First, I ironed all of the napkins. They were pesky little buggers that unless you take them immediately out of the dryer, they’ll have wrinkles. Then I folded the napkins how I wanted them. I slipped a piece of cardboard underneath the layer I was painting on. Then I positioned my stencil, and holding down the stencil very firmly, I dabbed the paint on with my sponge brush. It’s better to layer the paint than use too much because it will leak underneath the stencil. Carefully remove the stencil and cardboard and let dry. Then go show off to your husband how “cool” you are.
