I thought maybe I’d fill you all in on my progress for the upcoming Dirty Dash. You know, just so you don’t think I’m going to die running it. (Did you know the first guy who ran a marathon actually died running it? He died, friends. Good thing this is only a 5k, right?)
Now I’m not in incredible shape (and let’s face it: I probably never will get that hot bod I’ve always dreamed about) but I have been exercising on and off in my adult life. Tyler and I ran 2.5 miles yesterday and 2.5 miles today, and my body is beat! I seriously can’t move my legs. We live on the second floor, and let’s just say I had a difficult time carrying Jack up those stairs tonight.
I know I started “training” a little bit late for this – it kind of snuck up on me! – but our goal is to run everyday til the race next week. And then hopefully by then I will just love it so much I’ll do it for fun. And I’ll magically morph into that sexy beach body I’ve always wanted.
Haha.
I did download some songs to run to, though, which made a big difference. I hate running already, and running in silence is even worse. Here’s my new playlist, in case anyone else needs a pick-me-up:
(just keep clicking and it’ll get bigger so you can read it.)
Other songs I love running to:
Magic by B.O.B.
American Girl by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
Forget You by Cee Lo Green
Jump! by Flo Rida
Untouched by The Veronicas
Run Don’t Walk by Hey Monday
Wish me luck in my running progress! Today was already MUCH better than yesterday. We ran 2.5 miles in about 30 minutes, which I’d say is pretty good for a cold-turkey non-runner. Has anyone else started an exercise regimen recently? Were any of you just born being fantastic exercisers? I’d love to hear about it.
You need to ho over and check out my friend Christina’s blog. She has eight kids and just recently became a runner and is getting prepared to run two half marathons this summer. http://handsfullmom.blogspot.com/
Wow. Go her. I just read through all of her running entries and she really inspired me! I’m pretty sore today, but I can do this!
Um, yes. I seriously have a hard time finding music to motivate me to keep running! And then I listen to the ones I do like over and over again so I get sick of them and need new songs. Thanks for the inspiration!
I did! And I stuck with it a whole 4 months! (The last month our impending due date bested me). I would go to the gym every day and do the elliptical. I discovered the secret for me was having a book I can only read when I exercise, because it gives me something else to focus on, and even if I’m tired I still want to go because I want to get back to my book.
