My goodness, it’s a good conversation starter in line at the grocery store! It is a rare place nowadays where we go somewhere and nobody comments. ;)

Alie, I cannot handle how cute this baby is, with or without glasses. If I were you I wouldn’t worry if people wonder about Owen’s nystagmus. Since a baby with glasses is so unusual, I’d expect to find when I looked closer at such a baby that his eyes were a little unusual too. As a casual stranger I’d be happy for his family that they were able to recognize their baby’s sight problems early, and that modern technology was able to help them to find a solution even though he is so young. (I remember feeling this way when your sister had glasses as a toddler, even though I was only a kid myself.) All of this is if I noticed anything at all, which is unlikely because Owen is TOO CUTE and it’s very distracting.

I don’t have the same conditions your sweet baby does, but I come from a long line of sight-impaired individuals. :) I got glasses in the 1st grade, and now that I’m 26 my current prescription is -5.5 and -6.0! It’s a great conversation starter at parties. ;)
