Garin I am so glad to take advice from you!! We have the ikea one right now and you're right - it is crap. I will have to get a new one soon, because he's already gotten the hang of it and will probably want to climb on and off by himself soon. :)

way to go alie! this is a really exciting milestone!

i loved our choice to go with the bjorn potty seat and never use a potty chair, it was the best choice for our family. i put a step stool at the base of the toilet for elijah, he was a little too short when we started too. i will advise against an IKEA one, it was so flimsy it slid around on the tile. he also sometimes sits backwards on the toilet (so he's facing the tank) - that helped especially away from home. now he is tall enough to pee standing up!

after about 2 or 3 weeks of being completely trained (i.e. no accidents), elijah started having accidents again. i think he was testing out how long he could really wait between the urge to go and actually going. i think i also became less vigilant in checking-in, to remind him to go. and the "novelty" of it all had completely worn off. in the event that this happens with you, don't get discouraged, from what i've read and heard from other moms it is pretty common.

Ali, this is inspirational. I think I will start on Soph again starting Monday using your method. Also, with the cloth diapering thing, we have a pressure sprayer attached to the waterline. When Soph had a dirty diaper, we would just hose it down--no mess!
